BLANTYRE MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE TO ENERGY PROJECT
Malawi has an urban population grown rate of 4.7% per annum
Provision of sustainable urban social services such as waste management and clean energy is a challenge
This poses a significant risk to public health, environmental sustainability and the broader socioeconomic development agenda
GEBIS Energy Limited intended to develop a Municipal Solid Waste to Energy plant in the city of Blantyre with an installed capacity of 14 MW.
Waste to Energy(WtE) is a form of energy recovery where the primary output is heat through combustion or production of a combustible fuel commodity like methane, methanol, ethanol or synthetic fuels.
The plant will entail the processes of generating electrical energy and heat from the primary treatment of waste and waste into sustainable fuel sources.
Through this project, GEBIS Energy Limited will support the provision of renewable and predictable real and reactive power, support transmission system reliability, and provide sustainable population reactive services to waste management for city of Blantyre
